we were playing some game where we took turns to continue a story in pairs, and the other pair had to act out the scenes. the narration is in my shutterfly. it's a bit silly but super funny. JUST LOOK AT GEN hahahaha!

monday!

actually we went home quite early after dinner on sunday, but because of ahem reasons, i stayed up late on sunday night. which turned out to be a big mistake because on monday morning i woke up at exactly the time when i was supposed to meet xiaoxi and mrs leung to go down to yangzhe's house for nsc lego challenge. i never ran out of my house as quickly as i did on that day =\ but thank goodness i dont live that far away from lakeside and we had planned to meet quite a bit earlier than the time at which the online competition starts. but GUESS WHO BEAT ME HANDS DOWN. when we got to yangzhe's house, we were stuck outside with nobody to open the door for us. we tried calling her, ringing the doorbell and everything but nothing worked. turned out that her doorbell wasnt working AND that woman was still sleeping by the time we got there. haha YOU'RE AMAZING la yangzhe even i dont get spooked enough by POTC to lose sleep over it.

anyway the competition was quite lame. since it was online, we received all our instructions online, and we were supposed to download our programme through the net to the robot in singapore poly. the mission wasn't very hard, but the whole system was pretty screwed. after doing our programme, we just couldnt get it to download to the designated server. so we called up singapore poly about a thousand times, but they just kept telling us to re-try and once in a while i would hear the guy over the phone telling the other people at the competition venue that "i dont know what she's talking about." what! but okay credits to singapore poly, our robot eventually moved. although i suspect that the programme didnt download properly, which was why the robot moved everywhere, even out of the arena, except where it was supposed to go. haha crap that NEVER happens with a lego robot kay at most it gets a bit wonky but it's not supposed to go haywire! so it cant entirely be our fault right :D it's not very surprising that all the teams in the session before ours attained zero points. and ya we ended up with zero too, but somehow we're still like the top in our group. isnt that just a bit weird.

but the competition aside, the best part of the entire stay in yangzhe's house was of course LUNCH. her maid makes GOOD spaghetti. haha i think that was part of the reason why i was a bit annoyed by the singapore poly guy. EVERYONE was eating and i was stuck there talking to him over the phone and listening to him tell people that i make zero sense. terrible isn't it. also borrowed dan brown and a stack of vcds from yangzhe, so i expect that i'll be spending a lot more time sitting on the couch than in front of my computer for the next week or so. i havent been reading for such a long time, that im making it a point to make up for it during options.

after the competition wrapped up around 3, i rushed home to grab my racket and stuff and chionged to chris-tin's place to play tennis. having learnt the basics before most certainly doesnt mean that we can play properly xD it took a bit of getting used to, since we both havent touched our rackets for a long long time. but towards the later half of the two hours we could actually make a few decent rallies. it's definitely much more succesful than the time we tried to play badminton. practise will make perfect :D so we're playing again on saturday. i really need new shoes though my pair is destroying my toes. anyway after that we returned to her house and chris taught me to make earrings. she more or less stood over me with a club and whacked me when i did something wrong. haha no la but i did need a lot of help. so with the pro's help, my two pairs turned out nice :D friend i'll buy you beads the next time i go down to far east! then we watched the best parts of chicago over dinner and ginger beer, and we actually covered the whole show in one hour. by the time i got home all i could do was to pack for tuesday and read for a while before i fell asleep.

tuesday!

KAYAKING COURSE for leadership camp facilitators @ paddle course! it was great i love kayaking. people let's take the kayaking course yuhyiing mentioned so that we can get our cert! the sln people were great fun to be with, especially group 2. bern yiing nard aj yen jeanting joanne and me! while we waited for our turn to go out to sea we built this huge lump of sand on the beach. it's supposed to be called a sandcastle i think xD AND we got to bury yen in the sand and turn her into an um rather pretty sculpture. the best part was going out to sea of course :D we practised the basic strokes that the odac girls were teaching us on land, as well as capsizing and rescues. it was really nice just cruising on the surface of the sea. despite the fact that the sea was quite choppy, aj and i conquered the waves! we're telepathic man we're such good kayaking partners. wahaha and we capsized ONLY 4 times. haha the last time we capsized was the most hilarious of all. we were practising the water exit and T-rescue, and it was our turn to help bern and jeanting's kayak. the very first time, after emptying the kayak of water, flipping it back and everything, the kayak capsized again when they were getting on so we had to repeat the process. the second time, those two managed to get onto the kayak, and then we were all cheering, when somehow suddenly they capsized again. hahaha and this time, they capsized our kayak too xD omg and we're going to be facilitators. but we definitely learnt a lot today la i think we're much better prepared for leadership camp now, thanks to mr tan and odac. they were the most patient teachers (: but mr tan also made us muaji after that, so we spent some time rolling around in the sand after getting wet (yeah that means the sand sticks) AND on top of one another. oh gosh. haha all of us were probably none too clean by the time we left paddle course.

the cloudy weather was very deceptive i dont know how i could have forgotten that the uv light is still very strong even when the sun isnt staring at us in the face. so now i think im sunburnt. jurong clan is still going to the beach on sunday! although it's not going to be a daring sun-tanning trip like bern's :D but still it wont be nice to go under the sun if i get burnt right. please unburn unburn.

after i managed to somewhat clean myself up, i went to join twin for lunch in orchard. we were supposed to go birthday present shopping, but all we managed to accomplish was to wander all over orchard without finding anything. oh well present-buying is not that easy anyway. and it's not as if i minded walking around with good company. we met jiacong and co who were having tarbet house comm amazing race in far east. it's a bit strange that all the boards and houses are having camps during the holidays and at the same time we all are so free. but for now im happy just the way it is.

then i went down to yiochukang to play badminton with jiali wing xinyi simran yuans liping weiming pei'en yihui. we had 3 courts to ourselves for 2h. hahaha pei'en plays badminton like a ballerina! yuans and liping are super comical, and jiali wing xinyi simran and especially weiming are just pro. ehh yihui i didnt get to play with you at all! badminton with these people is always fun. but then my stamina eventually gave up on me i started to move really slowly and i couldnt drive the shuttlecock back as far as i wanted it to go. quite sad. weiming i must play with you again some other day!

all in all not too bad. i came out of the past two days alive, with only a few scratches from the kayak, my usual racket blisters, two chipped nails, aching hands, and a sunburn. it's tiring though, and there's still netball tomorrow. im ready to call it a day. good night!
