THE FAMILY
Hello! As you should already know, we are the FPS family!
Now, every family should have a family history, no? So. Our family was formed earlier this year when our (soon to be) fps mentor ms may tan asked if any of us would like to try out fps! And so our family was formed. Audrye, Huimin, Chris-Tin and Shuting.
Since march we have battled through problems, underlying problems, solutions, criteria, ranking and action plans, at the same time braving global warming, freedom of speech and most recently, nutrition.
Our unofficial meeting venue was always Chris-tin's house, and in the process, all of us gained weight with all the many many many marks and spencers cookies and ruffles we had! So much for learning about all the transfat.
It was in this intellectual environment that chemical bonding took place! In the end, we officially became the fps family, which can withstand high temperatures without any change in state. XD
A note about the name! reverse electrolysis was one of our action plans! and fps stands for Future Problem Solving!

helloo!!! haha this is just a treat for all you crazed souls studying chinese and who need a break.
is anyone having the same problem studying? its like when you do a li jie pian zhang, you read and read.. then after awhile you kind of space out and start thinking of incredibly random things. then you forget what the entire passage is about. how tragic is that? sigh and i keep watching tsubasa chronicles why am i doing this? sigh slap yourself christin.
lol i am currently quite creeped out by vivian's psychic ability to read between the lines. its creepy! really! haha wait till she does it to you. humph. anyway
we went to rj today to sell tickets. guess how many tickets we sold! TWO. how pathetic is that. need we say, we were all very very sad. and some guy even asked us (in a very uh.. knowlegable way... who was the most famous tota playwright? apparently its this samuel guy lol)
i have a new obsession with songs by 98 degrees and clay aiken. XD they're so heartmelting. ok fine recently i seem to think alot of things are heartmelting. i must have a very very squishy heart then.
i love reading archives! they give you this warm fuzzy feeling when you think back and remember what good times you had. speaking of archives, i shall respond to shuting's entry. yes i do keep smses that mean alot to me. there's one which i really didnt expect the person to say... OK NEVERMIND haha. shhhh.
so many people read this blog that i dont know of. =D anyway BIG SMILES EVERYBODY. new resolution: i shall smile at everyone who makes me happy! yuezhen thought i was crazy though she asked me what i wanted from her or smthing. theres a smile for everyone! haha shuting i still owe you your giant radiant glowing smile. (anyway see everyone should smile!like this!)
and i just spent some time immortalising another batch of saved smses on my computer. now i feel so randomly touched by all the nice things people have said, amused by the times people were being cute, and i feel so loved. i must say a big THANKYOU to the people who bother with me all the time. the people who don't mind corresponding through really long messages with me, the people who actually bother to reply my one-liners when im in a bad mood, and everyone who's just there, one message away, at any time of the day. and because of you all, all those times, the times when i'm on the long train ride home alone late at night, the times i'm feeling disconnected with the people around me, all those times when people feel lonely, i am glad that i have company :) hahaha 爱死你们了.
vivocity. is. big. but the place isnt really that fantastic. i much prefer our homeland@orchard. the shops in vivo arent that unique to being with, and the crowd and noise sort of spoils the whole atmosphere of the place. i guess everyone's keen to check out the place. i ran into hweeleong and friends in candy empire, zhiyu and family in espirit, and sherman and chengshan were somewhere there too but i didnt see them. and im not sure whether jass went down in the end. i realised that walking around for the whole afternoon before work is a very bad idea. i was completely dazed at work, and even lawrence our manager was jokingly commenting that my reaction was very slow. it didnt help that weekends are super busy days, so even though there're quite a few workers now, we kept rushing around like crazy. and strangely, time passed really slowly this time. i dont know whether it's because the novelty of the job is wearing off or what, but hm it's not good. that aside, i think we made new friends at work : D the other group of students working there are really nice. it took me a while to break the ice la, since on the first two days i met them, i was pathetically alone and awkward xD but once i got to know them, they're very fun to be around :D andand they're all westies, so technically i have company home! just that my mum keeps scolding me and making me go home early so scowls. speaking of alone. IM NEVER GOING TO WORK ALONE AGAIN it's very disturbing as the people who've heard my story know. some people out there are quite scary.

ah im in such a nice state of mind now i hate to waste it on chinese so i shall blog and be happy first.
yes let me tell you. i saw the CUTEST boy on the mrt home today. he had such dreamy doe eyes just like vivian's. and even though he looked like a poser with the low butt pants and the jay-chou [OAKLEY!] sunglasses and the coloured hair, he looked SOOOOOOOO CUTE. and he as a good heart he gave up his seat to a woman with a baby. so sweet! ahh and he was looking at me. -.^ pity when he stood up i was taller than him so. aw. but OH MAN i love him! lol this is where "you're beautiful" starts playing. i wish i could put him and vivian together and take a photo of them. THEIR EYES OMIGOSH THEIR EYES. sigh but he got off at aljuned so i only had FOUR MEASLY STOPS TO ADMIRE MY EYE CANDY.
yes hm another thing that happened today. i have a um new bed! see right my parents ordered through a family friend for cheaper good quality sealy beds! super single. then when they came... they were BIG. like it was the millioniare series and it was 6 inches wider than usual. they actually ordered a mattress and a divan for my room (the mattress goes on top of the divan) and a divan for my brother's because my brother has quite a new mattress unlike me. yeah so well then there were a FEW PROBLEMS.
1. my brother's divan and mattress dont match anymore --> one is bigger than the other! he totally hates it. and2. if you've been into my room before you would know that it is SMALL and my bed like JUST NICE fits. so with this bigger one sigh i have alot less space than before its going to be SO HARD to do group work. well at least now all of you have a license to sit/lie/bouce whatever! on my bed lol. oh you know its ALMOST AS TALL AS MY TABLE i cant believe it la. lol. 3. the new bed is HARDDDD. i like softer beds but this one is like EXTRA FIRM.
haha so smart solution: me and my brother swap mattresses: i get the weird shaped one and he gets my hard one. (OH THE NICE ALTURISTIC SOUL I AM) lol i dont think he minds the hardness la but my bed looks SO WEIRD now. but daddy says he'll buy me a queen size comforter (DOWN NO LESS!) so it'll hang over and not look so obvious.
dear fps family ahha i think for prom, we'll drag the pillows and blankets outside and sleep in front of the tv. i have aircon outside now, remember! XD
yeah and i saw this on jane's blog and even though NO ONE TAGGED ME [sobsobsob actually i dont think anyone really knows about this blog hoho] i want to do it anyway cos it looks COOL. so despo right.

1. my cool nickname xtin (like christmas = xmas so christin = xtin) was inspired by some random guy's softball jersey. hm it was in sec 2 and we were at srcs (softball carnival basically) and sharon (shum) saw this guy's jersey which said x-something cant remember and so she came up with it. i tell you she and karen were bursting with glee when they told me XD
2. i have an insane interest in all things medical. oh haha i bet you knew that already XD like once after i watched grey's anatomy i just HAD to go find out what an enema is. lol if you want to know you can ask me!
3. i should be alot smarter than i am now. when i was young i fell off a supermarket trolley on my head. and i was warded for concussion and a hairline fracture in my skull. haha if you've never had concussion it totally sucks lol i couldnt walk properly because hm. you know that feeling when you spin around alot on a chair then try to walk directly after that? yeah it was like that, but only permanently. lol oh and i was vomitting alot. but that was a long long time ago. but i still insist that i could be a genius.
4. when i talk to teachers im very domineering, as i've found out through ANALYZING TALK. haha especially with chris ow. (or maybe its only chris ow haha whatever he rocks la) i put forward alot of DEMANDS and talk to him like talking to a friend. haha oops.
5. im REALLY BAD AT SPELLING. haha one time when we were supposed to list stuff on the board for english or something i was writing for my group and there were at least 4 mispelled words. yeah i remember in p6 we used to have spelling tests with all the incredibly tricky hard words like "refrigerator" and "millenia" and "schedule" and i had to do SOOOO many corrections because for every mispelled word we had to write it TWENTYFIVE TIMES. ahha i think i titled my corrections sheet "Mrs Yee's Torture Chamber"
6. i love the way people smile. some people have the prettiest smiles. like shuting! shuting has a very very pretty smile. (you should show it more often!) i think if you smile when you're really feeling happy, you make everybody else happy too! see everyone should smile more, like ME! even though my smile makes my eyes go reeeeally small and i look like a siamese cat but still! and DONT CARE if debroah tannen whoever that is in analyzing talk says that smiles are a sign of the weaker person (non-intimidating) just let me see your PRETTY SMILE!

haha anyway oh i shall blog about what we did on saturday! we went for ecf dance rehearsal (which everyone should come for btw) and hung around orchard, then we went to the esplanade for this bollywood dance demonstration!
rehearsal was funny and high and everything as usual. haha people danced, made a fool of themselves, did wushu, flirted, two/triple/quadraple whatever timed other people, and most importantly of all, gave pro performaces and basically had alot fun!
mm after that we went to lido where we sat down infront of that big screen showing all the trailers and after happily eating long johns, me xinyi and jane went down to isetan supermarket and bought sushi (obviously not for me haha i bought sweets and konyaku jelly powder). mm then me and xinyi happily trooped off to wisma to see prom dresses! ahha after awhile i made her go into fcuk to try on a shirt, and i tried on a jeans. i love fcuk cos it makes me feel slightly smaller. because the jeans i tried on, could slip entirely off my butt and i was wearing fbts! oh yay. XD heehee then we went to daniel yam where i -ahem- danced around the shop picking out things for xinyi to wear, and I SWEAR WE FOUND HER DREAM DRESS. shall not reveal too much here but rest assured SHE LOOKS GOOD IN IT. haha if you trust my taste that is. but quite said it was the last piece and i dont know if she eventually went back to buy it or not. i dont know if i should get a daniel yam dress because EVERYONE gets a daniel yam dress! and its quite ex too. =(
ok anyway after awhile jane called and asked us to come back. so on the escalator back up to lido and jane called again so i told her that me and xinyi were having so much fun that we didnt want to go for the bollywood thing and we wanted to go clubbing (and she believed me! yay i rock).
anyway we met elena at orchard mrt carrying her free hugs signs! oh yeah and we also met kelly at city hall mrt. so we happily trooped off to esplanade. after sourcing around abit, we finally found the place where the demonstration was. the people were pretty good actually! there was this little boy who was ON PAR in dancing skill as the adults he was sooo cute! i tell you he will be the winner of "so you think you can dance 16" or something. oh then after they danced like 2 songs they asked for volunteers and the entire SWARM of ecf people immeidately went up. and they taught us the first um... 4x8 counts i think to the song SAY NA! its super bollywood i tell you!. haha so then there was free dancing and we did our routine and random other steps and THEY KEPT FILMING US WITH THEIR CAMERAS! if we ever appear in any kind of media heh its not us. really. haha but we were the most enthu there la the main guy (who can dance super well yeah!) even learnt our first 2x8 of no 1 punjabi! so cool right! he did it alot better than us. ecf is super fun it felt quite stupid at first la but its really fun if everyone is very enthu about it, like we are now! shuting WHY OH WHY do you have to pull out! =(
oh yeah man i think some of them went around trying to give free hugs, but a policeman came up and stopped them =S haha. but they did it anyway the next day. elena and nicola and someother people. ok i shall go now and eat dinner im hungry! ahh i had like a momomuffin and baby star for lunch i dont think that's very healthy gah. haha training tmr!
i shall CONFIRM wear my shin guards poor poor jacq jacq got whacked TWICE on the shin and her bruises are so bad AND she was wearing shin guards! our seniors are scary man.

i love . MY JOB :D
it was during another one of those long breaks in between classes that we were all sitting in the canteen. somehow, we started talking about getting a job. somehow, we decided to go try our luck in plaza sing right after school that day. somehow, thai express @ plaza sing hired us on the spot and dispatched us to vivocity. and suddenly, we had jobs!
everything happened really fast. we were hired on monday, then we had our orientation on wednesday, when we received the very special thai express orange shirt haha and our cool black aprons, and by thursday we were already foodrunners at the opening of the vivocity outlet.
we work in the evenings for about 4 - 5h each time. but as far as i know, it never feels like such a long time. because vivocity and the thai express outlet are both so new, the crowds never cease to pour in right until the restaurant closes. we are constantly on the move, serving food, serving drinks, refilling drinks, pouring drinks, tending to customers' needs. (they don't let us take orders yet! but we all cant wait to memorise the menu and pick up the job :D) time really flies by when we are busy. i swear we walk a few km in the restaurant each evening.
but it is really fantastically fun! the job itself isnt too taxing on our minds, and there's a lot of flexibility in what we do. we also get to interact with a lot of people, and generally the feeling when we keep ourselves busy is extremely satisfying. i thought i would be really tired after work, especially since we sometimes go down after a long day in school, but surprisingly, apart from aching feet, im totally energetic by the time i get home. (although ahem i have the tendency to be extremely dazed in school the following day.) in a sense, i am really glad that we took up this job instead of some of the wep ones in school. i mean, being attached to a research institute and trailing a researcher around all day staring at testtubes until we're cockeyed definitely would be much more mundane than this. i cant imagine working full time though. by the time we get to thai express each evening, the crew looks quite worn out. they told us that on weekends, they're usually so busy that they dont even get any time to eat as long as the restaurant is still in operation. i guess 5h is about as long as i can manage to maintain a high level of enthusiasm and energy. but the great thing is, no matter how tired everyone is, a thank you and a smile from the customers, or an approving look from your fellow crewmates make it all worthwhile :D cheesy! but true, the joys of working in the service sector.
the crew ! is really nice as well. i mean yeah, they chid us now and then when we do something wrong, and some of them -ahem are self-proclaimed fierce devils when they're working, but they're all really nice to us. so far it's been fun working with them, especially yesterday when they sent in the paragon and ps people to help us out. there's this guy. who is in charge of section 1. he's totally professional gosh whenever i see him, he's either rushing around to tend to the customers' needs or talking in this really polite and warm way to the customers. it's quite amazing i kept staring at him xD oh fine he has really nice hair too. haha do you want to hear about the other million cute people i've spotted eating in the restaurant as well? i suppose not right. then again there's alex, big joker who keeps getting in my way and calls jingli the doorman. ahh i think they'll be gone by today but nevermind. crew @ vivocity is DA real cool. i ahem sort of cant remember all their names yet but i will, with time :D
accidents? what accidents? huimin jingli and i are totally naturals. haha no la. the stupid restaurant floor is terribly slippery for some reason. for one, nobody can walk properly, especially near the kitchen. apparently one group of customers noticed and they even asked jingli about it xD but that's not good at all, especially since there's food coming out the kitchen all the time. AND I TOTALLY FELL. it's the embarrassment of my life i dont even know what exactly happened. i was happily carrying out this jug of water and then somehow i slipped! and then i lost my balance! and then i ended up on my butt! oh but i was really zai okay i took great care not to spill the water even when i was falling so the jug was still intact in my hands and the floor wasnt very wet except for a few ice cubes that flew out :D i think the customers were quite alarmed haha and silently wishing that i would never carry their food orders. our dear razali spent the next half an hour laughing at me though =\ actually i think the 3 of us amuse everyone. but that's a good thing right, we bring LIFE to the place :D
oh i must say. if you ever go to thai express, PLEASE DONT ORDER ANYTHING BUT DRY ITEMS. the soups burn my fingers every single time i go down. and that's not to mention all the disgusting times when i accidentally dip my thumb into the soup while serving it -.- its difficult okay! and BE A NICE CUSTOMER like the nice lady who commented that my specs are nice :D the food looks good :D it's quite funny i've never eaten in thai express before even though i've served some of the more popular dishes dozens of times over. haha some day the 3 of us must go and eat in paragon and ps thai express and visit our friends :D
haha friend, now you know how i found my Joy after an evening of work.

OKAY i cant rhyme anymore XD anyway i know all of you dont doubt my prowess right. right. ahh I STILL CANT BELIEVE THAT I DIDNT GET C FOR CHINESE!!!!! and yeah yeah i know thats not very good for chinese pros like augustine and benjamin/redmund?! BUT IT IS FOR ME!!!!!! hoho. no more 2.4/2.0 gpa for me!
my aim this year is to get 3.6 gpa. CAN I DO IT!!! ahaha of course man. sigh i always get this feeling that im in the wrong school (should be in like chung cheng or something). but maybe that's just our class ya?
our analyzing talk recording #1 today rocks mrs ban is better infront of the camera than i expected her to be. we recorded in the sac (or slac? oh gosh its SLACK haha i digress) and the sound quality is really good it'll make for good transcribing. mrs ban is so funny k we spent most of the time talking about maths questions. XD sigh but the thing now is to find at least 2 more teachers to ambus... no i mean volunteer.
