Now, every family should have a family history, no? So. Our family was formed earlier this year when our (soon to be) fps mentor ms may tan asked if any of us would like to try out fps! And so our family was formed. Audrye, Huimin, Chris-Tin and Shuting.
Since march we have battled through problems, underlying problems, solutions, criteria, ranking and action plans, at the same time braving global warming, freedom of speech and most recently, nutrition.
Our unofficial meeting venue was always Chris-tin's house, and in the process, all of us gained weight with all the many many many marks and spencers cookies and ruffles we had! So much for learning about all the transfat.
It was in this intellectual environment that chemical bonding took place! In the end, we officially became the fps family, which can withstand high temperatures without any change in state. XD
A note about the name! reverse electrolysis was one of our action plans! and fps stands for Future Problem Solving!
Did you know? Chris-Tin killed the blog the first time because she didnt know that half the html for the blog was cut off, and she saved the template changes! so she had to do it all over again. ):

the last two weeks of holidays are filled with people i love(: so much has happened i hardly know where to start.
last week was predominantly spent in the ntu labs with charmaine, staring at tiny moving spheres on the computer screen for our nrp project. it was actually quite interesting to study how the concentration of polyallylamine hydrochloride affects the viscosity of motion and levitation height of polyester colloids above definite substrates :D haha geeks. being in the lab involved a lot of waiting around, especially during the treating of glass slides. but i dont mind la charmaine is fantastically nice to talk to. we just sit down in front of the computer, and talk about everything under the sun and why she is a sweet angel haha(: it was really funny that one day when we decided to give professor lars a christmas present. so we went to get him a box of turkish delights, and a card on which charmaine photoshopped lars' face onto santa claus and ours onto these little elves. he was really amused, and in return he gave us this pack of dove chocolates with a really nice christmas-sy ribbon on it. we were super touched la, yet at the same time it was hilarious imagining prof lars, who sort of reminds me of an over-sized snowman, meticulously choosing a ribbon in the shops, then tying it on xD half an hour later, as we were walking out of the labs, we found an identical ribbon stuck onto one of the lab's doors! HAHA okay so maybe it wasnt meticulously chosen from a shop after all, but plucked from some random lab door. prof lars is really funny he keeps saying things like "it'd be good to be funny during a presentation, but im not a particularly funny person", then give us a woeful look, upon which we'll burst out laughingxD and charmaine lent me infernal affairs to watch. IT'S REALLY GOOD. go watch it if you haven't.
last wednesday was icyl post-mortem and informal dinner. the very last rgs event of the year for us i guess(: it was great seeing everyone again! especially the facils kim shihua xianying sarah yvonne yuhui etcetc too many to name, and the funny oc people :D i cant remember what happened during post-mortem very well, except carmen spending a lot of time reporting comments from the collated facils' feedback. a bunch of us went for lunch after that, and us poor deprived kids actually started playing bridge in the food court. eventually we bored ourselves, and i went to walk around orchard with yuhui and talking about her trip to korea and dbsk. YUHUI BOUGHT ME JAEJOONG BISCUITS FROM KOREA I LOVE YUHUI I LOVE JAEJOONG I LOVE BISCUITS!! man, so gorgeous! yuhui is hilarious she always has so many funny stories to tell(: then we found carmen and we all wandered around, and spent a lot of time choosing potato chips in cold storage, before heading down to tammy's house for dinner. to tell the truth, dinner was quite sad we just sat down and played bridge lol, until the oc people arrived. our juniors are noisy sia! but they're really funny. becky yenlin grace chan deborah jiawen han lyn sherrie carmen germaine michelle and everyone made me laugh more than i ever had in ages. im glad i decided to go for the dinner after all :D
on friday i went down to the singapore garden festival exhibition @suntec. it was not bad, all the garden designs were quite exquisite and the orchids were gorgeouss. photos photos:

after that, i headed down to chris-tin's house to sleepover, as mentioned earlier. left on saturday evening, after a lot of high school musical, ddr, ouran high school, saturday night live, eating, sleeping, talking, walking and everything. lovelove(:
christmas eve was shoppingggg! lynette is a super funky shopping partner. man, it's quite amazing how one year ago, we were on the way home together, drawing up our christmas wishlists for the next year, and this year we're actually going to realise our rendezvous(: we went down to bugis street, where there were many many nice things:D but the place was super crowded we had a hard time squeezing through the crowd, and we never found the nice bag shop there that we wanted to visit): the icon, in comparison, was almost entirely empty. but it is seriously over-shadowed by bugis street - things were more expensive, but not as nice, and i was quite wary of the too-friendly shopkeeper aunties who kept trying to tell us that some uh very strange clothes are the most "in" things now. then we went down to orchard to feel the festivity in town! if the festive atmosphere is judged by the amount of people present, orchard receives a 10 out of 10. from any elevated place, the pavements of orchard road looked like seas of heads. we had quite a nice dinner at pepper lunch. a pepper dinner, get it? HAHA:D then we entertained ourselves by buying christmas hats with shining stars across the front and parading around in them. lynette needs to send me photos. we were also very amused by the 1-min light shows at the junction between taka and paragon. apparently, every half an hour, traffic would stop for a minute and there would be this light show at the centre of the junction, and people were supposed to run out to uh party i guess. but it's hilarious how by the time people realise that the light show has started, and they stroll to the middle of the road, the show's over and everyone's ushered back to the pavements. by about 10+, there was literally a human jam outside ngee ann city and we couldnt move at all. so we decided to give up and go home. it's quite sad that when we reached the mrt station, we realised that we were some of the few people going home, whereas everyone was heading for town/= but anyhow, it was fun and we spent the mrt ride home drawing up wishlists for next year:D
i didnt even bother counting down to christmas, man, i just fell asleep. i was supposed to go have my haircut with cheryl wong on christmas day, but ended up the salon wasnt open): so we went for lunch after finding each other with difficulty, before heading to her house. we spent a lot of time playing really funny computer games. i loveee chuzzles. there are all these furballs of different colours, and you're supposed to shift the rows around and match 3 of the same colour together for them to disappear. and if you're too slow, they get locked up and the whole row becomes immobile. sometimes these really cute HUGE furballs appear too. we were really excited and soon we ended up squealing in many different languages "red up! up more more! let go! big one watch the big ball OH NO IT'S SO BIG":D yiwen's parents kept feeding us, first with chocolate cake then cherries then corn. then we went to sing karaoke but wong yiwen can sing really well whereas i cannot so she was nice, and played the jaychou cd and we happily sang along and swooned over the really nice mvs:D
then it was dinner at vivo with hweeleong. secret recipe is quite gross, both in terms of the food and the strange couples around us who were doing weird things under the table. please dont go there for anything but dessert/: the scenary at the sky garden in vivo is really nice though! pretty lights, pretty cable cars, pretty sea and pretty lightning which kept flashing:D no stars though, it was too cloudy. one clear night, my workmates and i discovered the brilliant stars at harbourfront. it's like wow.
yeah and by then my parents were starting to get annoyed with me. i dont really know why they would want me to stay at home since when i do, i just rot. so i managed to get out of the house a few times, to go pre-chiangmai shopping with chris-tin where we went carrefour-hopping, and i stared sadly at the REALLY NICE BAG in suntec which i couldnt buy because im broke, and to watch curse of the golden flower with yuhui and shihua. the movie is pretty good(: i dont know why some people didnt find it very spectacular, i thought that everything from the set, costumes, to acting was pretty good. except that every time jay chou assumes so much as a thoughtful expression, everyone burst out laughing. LOL. yuhui rocks! every time im buying something im unfamiliar with, she's always there to give me advice(:
i spent yesterday digging everything out from my room, sorting them out and packing them up. i found old notebooks in which i have scribbled about life and people, and it's quite strange reading some of the things i wrote back then. anyway, i felt quite sad packing away all my notes and books from the past two years. some of them don't even look familiar to me any more. 2 years of my life spent on these things, and now im just packing them away like that and moving on): sigh. but now my room looks much more decent!, except this small pile of rubbish sitting on the floor. i really dont know what to do with it lah so im pretending not to see it. what a miracle, a clean room:D
went out with carmen for lunch today, when im supposed to pass her her very belated birthday present. but with all of my intelligence, i actually forgot to bring it along as i was leaving the house! zz. but it was really fun! i finally got to eat my curry which i have been pining for. and we did really random things like er. sitting in the esplanade staring at passer-bys and all the cute little kids:D, walking from city hall to the cathay, looking at furniture and lamps in park mall, oogling at food in carrefour, etc. so we're not the most happening kids in townxD but whatever the heck it's nice to just walk around and talk. right? right.(:
okay. so because mummy is annoyed with me, i couldnt go for badminton with class, nor dinner with zuoming sujun&co, nor mahjong with my beloved juniors (damn.). but there're still loads to look forward to before school reopens, and i cant wait to see everyone again(:
and hey! people overseas, come back home. i miss you):
dreams make reality more harsh when you wake up

hello world, rise and shine!
listento
uswe had a very fun yesterday. once shuting managed to drag herself to chris-tin's house, we settled down to watch high school musical! lovelove. the girl is soo pretty :D zac efron is kind of hot haha. WHADDYA MEAN KIND OF HOT!!! okay fine damn hot;) he can dance man! SHAKE IT SHAKE SHAKE IT. talkng about dance, we tried to learn the dance for the last song. WE GO MAD LA TRY TO LEARN. quite difficult, we rewinded and replayed about a thousand times only, but we sort of have it figured out now :D:D
EVERYBODY GROOVE TO THE MUSIC
EVERYBODY JAMMM (i like grape jam. I DONT i hate jam. you suck. lollipop!)
WILDCATS IN THE HOUSE.
cant help agreeing with joanne on that the plot is quite useless. but the songs and dances make up for it. the whole story is so.. good. in the sense that everything is so busily working towards a happy ending, it's unrealistc. but it makes you happy too :D at least for the period of time that you're still absorbed in the show.
then, because we were so amazed and high from learning the dance (WE DANCED THROUGH IT ALL ONCE IN THE END), we went to play DDR! how terribly difficult it is to coordinate. then we got tired (it was already 11.30pm!) so we went to watch ouran high school in which christin is determined to claim shuting's love as hers. shuting was very very happily watching when she noticed that chris was falling asleep haha so we went to bed zz. WITHOUT BRUSHING TEETH horrors. okay fine chris did but shuting left her toothbrush at home so she had to wait till morning for christin's mummy to find one for her/=
so fun we should do this more often :D
I SECOND THAT MOTION. XD
do you dare to beg to differ?
OF COURSE NOT.
yay :D

somehow, i used to think of my life as impenetratable by death and disease. that car accidents, cancer, kidney failure - these things only happed to people, nearly fictional characters, playing out their own story outside my sheltered life.
until it strikes near home.
i've watched friends and family deal with these crises. i've been there for them (i hope), but i've never been them. sometimes i wonder, when will it be my turn? when will i have to bear the pain that they bear?
death is a constant. the only variable is when.
are you afraid of dying? are you afraid of the end of your own life? or are you afraid of the void, the unknown beyond it?
if you left the world now, would you regret anything? an unresolved conflict, a long borne grudge, an unfulfilled dream, not saying "i love you" just one more time?
In paradisum deducant te Angeli; in tuo adventu suscipiant te martyres, et perducant te in civitatem sanctam Ierusalem. Chorus angelorum te suscipiat, et cum Lazaro quondam paupere æternam habeas requiem.
May angels lead you into Paradise; may the martyrs receive you at your coming and lead you to the holy city of Jerusalem. May a choir of angels receive you, and with Lazarus, who once was poor, may you have eternal rest.
